Winter Favorites at Pompei's Grotto

It’s been said that cioppino was invented on San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf by the Italian fishermen returning from a day at sea and each boat contributing some catch to a community pot, resulting in a delicious combination of various fresh fish and shellfish cooked with wine, garlic and tomatoes in a hearty stew which they would share with each other and their families.  Their wives would bring wine and bread, and they would feast on the fresh caught stew as the night grew cold.

Pompei’s Grotto proudly continues this Italian tradition with our hearty Fisherman’s Stew — prawns, clams, mussels, calamari and fresh local fish in a garlic tomato broth — and our savory Crab Cioppino — fresh Dungeness crab in the shell, mussels, clams and prawns in an herbed tomato sauce to warm you up on chilly San Francisco days.

Enjoy our full menu: salads, soups, sandwiches, pasta, meat & poultry, and our seafood combinations.  Lunch specials include: $6.00 Clam Chowder Bread Bowl; $7.00 Fish & Chips; $4.00 Bloody Mary; and $4.00 Pompei’s Lager pint.  Daily Happy Hour special menu from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Sunday through Thursday); 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. (Friday and Saturday)
