The San Francisco Police Department's Youth Fishing Program celebrates 40 years of an ongoing commitment to provide the opportunity to as many San Francisco kids as possible to experience the joy and adventure of fishing. This program offers community interaction between police officers, fishermen and local youngsters who share a love of fishing. A major fundraiser has been planned to enable the program to continue and flourish for years to come.

Opening of San Francisco's Local Crab Season
The 15th of November is the official opening of Crab Season where ports open to harvest Dungeness crabs. These crabs are particularly prized for their sweet, firm and succulent meat. Thousands of pounds of crabs are unloaded when fleets return with their catches at Fisherman's Wharf. Soon after, you can find them ready to eat at our wholesale fish market, at the crab stands and restaurants. You can purchase them to be packed to bring home or shipped home.

San Francisco's world-famous Ghirardelli Square kicks off the holiday season hosting the 44th Annual Ghirardelli Square Tree Lighting Ceremony, benefitting the Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center, a charitable organization dedicated to providing health and wellness programs, and broadening educational and cultural experiences in the North Beach, Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf neighborhoods of San Francisco.
